xBALL - Chip Ball
A Breakthrough in Ball Tracking Technology
Kinexon's xBall is the world's first ball with a sensor that is perfectly balanced and does not affect the ball's movement characteristics. Using artificial intelligence, the chip determines the ball's position, also measuring its speed and distance, and precisely timing each contact.

"Ball Data Closes The Last Gap In Data Collection...
…catering to a wide range of applications. Live ball tracking currently enhances real-time exercise and game analysis, live performance assessments, and creates new marketing opportunities. Additionally, the solution provides referees with vital information about ball touch events that was previously inaccessible. We are excited to explore the future applications of this unique technology.”

How Does Connected Ball Tracking Work?
This technology works by placing transceivers around the field, as well as adding an ultra-wide mesh technology device (UWB) and moment of inertia sensor (IMU) inside the ball. Ball data consisting of many parameters such as speed, rotation speed, trajectory, pass and shot are received and processed by the Kinexon sports software system.

Watch every movement of the ball live, with centimeter precision and millisecond consistency
Analyze player efficiency and ball parameters
Make sense of your ball movements alongside player performance to measure efficiency and impact. Obtain a wealth of data such as dribbling speed, distance traveled by the ball and the load associated with the ball, among others.
Equip Referees with Previously Unavailable Information
Data provision
Support your referees with data they might not otherwise have
Linked ball technology can be used to find out exactly whether contact with the ball occurred, and if so, exactly when it occurred. xBall technology not only offers another perspective for accurate judgment of match positions, but also offers valid measurement possibilities.
A few examples:

When was the ball touched?
In which contact category is the contact that took place?
In a particular position, which player touched the ball last?
What Can Leagues Gain From Live Ball Tracking Data?
The X-factor for audience participation. With real-time and easily processed ball data, communication with many different digital service platforms can be easily achieved. Under the banner of Kinexon Engage, this live ball data creates a viewing experience for leagues, clubs, federations and sponsors that truly engages the audience.
''Portuguese Football League Transforms with Live Data''
The Portuguese Bwin Football league, in collaboration with Select and Kinexon, tested the reliability and accuracy of player and ball tracking. Their findings revealed how live data makes the league more attractive to spectators, media and sponsors.
